I’m absolutely delighted to have been awarded one of Unlimited’s new Micro Awards to support disabled artists like me to make work or develop their practice in these unprecedented times. I am excited to be able to use the money I’ve been awarded to create a cycle of linked monologues which all relate to, or stem from, the act of falling. This is a subject I’ve been interested in for a long time and first developed the idea of a monologue cycle which addresses the (all too) frequent act of falling in my life as part of the Bush Theatre’s Emerging Writers’ Group. I’ve been wanting to continue to work on the subject, which feels strangely prescient at the moment, but without the time or funds to do so, it has been impossible. However, thanks to the Micro Award I will be able to write more monologues and continue to explore the sequence. Big thanks to Unlimited!
